Water2me is this year’s theme for World Water Day and concentrates on what water means to people personally. UN-Water has placed a call on its website to share stories, thoughts and feelings about water via social media. All these contributions will later become part of a report charting the significance of water worldwide.

World Water Day is organized annually on March 22 by UN Water. Normally during this day many events take place worldwide to create awareness for a theme that always has a link with water. In times of Covid, the organization opts for a digital approach. Everyone is invited to participate in a discussion about water via the hashtag # water2me.

Digital initiatives

Various initiatives are also available via the World Water Day website. For example, there is an Italian photo competition about the value of water. The UN rapporteur for safe drinking water and sanitation Pedro Arrojo-Agudo takes a closer look at the value of water in a short film. He wonders whether water to fill a swimming pool has the same value as the amount of water that is a human right.
