IPCC: Urge to action on climate change

IPCC urges to climate action. Heat waves, heavy rainfall and more floodings. Some of the consequences of climate change the world will be facing in upcoming years. The new Synthesis Report of the IPCC points out that climate change is still proceeding. The consequences of global warming are getting more and more clear. The last 15 years warming has slown down, but it is likely that at some point warming could speed up.

The Inter Governmental Panel on Climate Change of the United Nations concludes that mitigation and adaptation to climate change are inevitable. The Synthesis report or so-called ‘fifth assessment report’, is the last, concluding report in a serie of five. The actual report aims at policymakers, and can be used as input for climate negations. Europe

According to the report Climate change, impacts and vulnerability in Europe of the European Environement Agency wet regions in Europe got wetter and dry regions drier in 2016. Glacier volume and snow cover are decreasing. At the same time, climate-related extremes such as heat waves, heavy precipitation and droughts, increased in frequency and intensity in many regions. Improved climate projections show that climate-related extremes will increase further in many European regions.
