The International WaterCentre (IWC) is currently offering several full scholarships for high calibre international candidates interested in studying the Master of Integrated Water Management (MIWM) in Brisbane next year. European water professionals can apply online for a scholarship until the 1 August 2015.

The MIWM program is custom-designed and collaboratively delivered by leading industry practitioners and lecturers from IWC’s founding member universities. Students can choose between three specialisation streams including ‘International development’, ‘Urban water’ and ‘Water, land and people’. The study will start in February 2016 at The University of Queensland and can be finished in June 2017.

Australian water management
Pascal Garde from France founded Global Water Jobs after studying in Queensland. He is very happy he made the decision to study (without a scholarship, ed.) in Australia: “When I moved to Australia to study water management, I realised I could not have chosen a better place to do so. Australian people have an outstanding environmental awareness, they value their fauna and flora, and the country is so widespread that it offers almost every water resource issue that exists in the world.”

Multiple disciplines
The MIWM program offered exactly what he was looking for: “With a degree in international economics, specialising in water governance, I found I needed a greater understanding of the engineering and science of water management, but most advanced education programs focused mainly on a single area of study. When I discovered the International WaterCentre (IWC) Master of Integrated Water Management, a co-badged degree from four Australian universities and delivered through The University of Queensland, I knew I’d found exactly the right program for me. It covered all the subjects I was interested in. I enrolled, and made the big move to Brisbane, Australia – a step I will always be glad I made.”

Different scholarships
Up to three international scholarships are available. Up to two full tuition and full living costs scholarships (approximately 62.000 euros) and one full tuition scholarship (valued at approximately 35.000 euros). Partial scholarships will also be available for self-funded students (up to 6.600 euros – including flights to Australia for citizens of the European Union).

Water professionals who are interested in studying this program can ask their questions during a webinar on 9 July. Dr Brian McIntosh, IWC Senior Lecturer and Education Program Manager will be available for all kinds of questions after the presentation of the MIWM-program.
