EU: money for upgrade Armenian water services

Waste water treatment and water provision in Armenia will soon seriously be updated, thanks to two loans by the European Investment Bank, worth in total € 34,3 million.
The budget will be spent on renovating the waste water system in towns and villages, and for upgrading the water supply infrastructure in parts of capital city Yerevan and surrounding villages.
The underlying infrastructure rehabilitation plan of four regional water companies is aiming to improve the living standard for over 400,000 people between 2014 and 2018 and to stimulate economical and social development.
The programme is co financed by German development Bank KfW and a donation of the EU Rural Neighbourhood Facility of € 15 million, consisting of an investment grant of € 12 million and a technical assistance grant of a € 3 million. The German cooperation ministry will donate an additional grant of € 2,5 million.
